In 2022 the 3MT competition will be presented as an in-person event.
The HASS Faculty Final - 3MT competition will feature three prize categories:
- Winner: $500
- Runner-up: $250
- People's choice: $250
The winner of the Faculty Final will progress to the UQ Final and the People's Choice winner progresses to the Wildcard competition. The winner of the Wildcard Final will also progress to the UQ Final as the Wildcard entrant. Interested PhD candidates should contact their enrolling unit’s HDR Liaison Officer (HLO) for information on their unit’s competition.

The University of Queensland's 3-Minute Thesis competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Presenting in a 3MT competition increases their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
