We present a pilot project that revolves around maximising visual and verbal resources at UQ’s archival collections, particularly the Fryer Library, UQAM and the Anthropology Museum.  These archives have unique opportunities for research on campaigns for social justice in the Asia Pacific region, for example on indigenous peoples, asylum seekers, and genocide.   The project focuses on links between visual and material culture, generates collaborative partnerships with these repositories, and develops new methodologies in scholarly communication and digitisation.
