This year’s International Museums Day revolves around the theme of "Museums and Contested Histories: Saying the Unspeakable in Museums." To mark this event, the panel brings together scholars from numerous different disciplines to discuss how museums can play an active role in addressing the history of violence and trauma. The key question the panelists address is: what is the potential of art to engage these problematic histories and open up pathways towards reconciliation?

Chaired by Prof Roland Bleiker, speakers include: Mr Michael Aird, Dr Holly Arden, A/Prof Sally Butler, Dr Emma Hutchison, Dr Annie Pohlman from the Unviersity of Queensland and Prof Renee Jeffery from Griffith University.
