About HASS Faculty 3MT Competitions

In 3MT (Three Minute Thesis), PhD students have three minutes to communicate the significance of their thesis in a language understandable to a lay audience. The UQ competition begins with school and institute heats, with the winner progressing to the HASS Faculty final. The winner of the Faculty final then progresses to the UQ Final. The people's choice winner from each faculty/institute final has the opportunity to participate in the Wildcard competition of which the winner is offered a place in the final as the Wildcard entrant.

This year, the 2020 HASS Faculty 3MT competition will be a completely virtual event that will feature three prize categories:

Winner: $1000
Runner-up: $500
People's choice: $500

Interested PhD candidates should contact their enrolling unit’s HDR Liaison Officer (HLO) (names and contact details listed here) for information on their unit’s competition.
