Postgraduate study

Reach your full potential and master your career with a postgraduate degree.

Graduate certificate

Refresh your skill set and boost your career confidence with a graduate certificate. Covering the core units of a master’s degree, a graduate certificate typically takes 6 months of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Graduate diplomas

This is the ideal postgraduate degree if you’d like to dig deeper into your area of study but you’re unable to commit to a full master’s degree. A graduate diploma can usually be completed in 1 year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Master's degrees

For the most comprehensive postgraduate studies, choose a master’s degree. The program will take a little longer (1.5-2 years of full-time study or part-time equivalent), but you’ll graduate with an unparalleled depth of knowledge and expertise.

How you can study

We offer flexibility so your study can suit your needs and lifestyle.

Duration

Most postgraduate programs at UQ can be studied either full time or part time.

Multiple campuses

You can check the delivery location of your chosen program on its webpage. This will list a campus for in-person learning (e.g. St Lucia, Herston or Gatton).

Study online

For select postgraduate degrees, you can choose to complete the program entirely online with no in-person learning required.

Eligibility

The most common prerequisite for postgraduate studies is a relevant bachelor’s degree. However, if you have significant work experience, you may be able to enrol in a graduate certificate without a bachelor’s degree. This will then allow you to progress into the related graduate diploma or master’s program, provided you do well in your courses.

How to apply

Once you’ve decided which program to pursue and have checked the eligibility and entry requirements, you can apply online using the code provided on your selected program’s webpage.

Application dates

There are two intakes per year for applications for postgraduate study. You can choose to commence your studies in Semester 1 or Semester 2 of the same year. You can view closing dates for Semester 1 and Semester 2 applications on UQ's Academic Calendar.

Postgraduate scholarships

UQ offers a range of scholarships that will support your postgraduate journey. Enjoy the full benefits of your postgraduate program with peace of mind.
