Dr Caroline Wilson-Barnao

Researcher biography
I research the use of technology by the cultural sector and what this means for cultural institutions facing the future. I have published on the transformation of the Gallery, Library, Achieve and Museum (GLAM) sector and recently I published a book with Routledge on the uses of technology by Australian museums and their overseas counterparts titled ‘Museums as Platforms?” More recently, I have started investigating the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in processing large amounts of cultural data and what this means for the museum. Before joining academia, I worked in senior communications and marketing roles for around 20 years in a range of organisations including Red Cross, RSPCA and Brisbane Powerhouse and was formerly on the board of Flipside Circus. I have a keen interest in the digitization of Australian art galleries, libraries, and museums collections.
