Judy has been the President of the Modern Languages Teachers’ Association of Queensland (MLTAQ) since March 2019 and was the MLTAQ Journal Editor for two years previous to that.

Judy has contributed to every Queensland language curriculum iteration since she began her teaching career in 1988. Most recently as Senior Project Writer for C2C P- 4 Japanese in 2015.

Judy studied at The University of Queensland (UQ) graduating with a Bachelor of Arts / Diploma of Education (double major in Japanese and single major in Geography) in 1987. More recently Judy returned to UQ in 2012-2013 graduating with a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems.

She currently works part time at West End State School teaching Japanese and spends her weekends helping tourists as a Tourism Officer for the Tweed Tourism Company at Tweed Heads.

Judy is passionate about language learning as a means of developing cultural understandings and awareness of the many ways of seeing the world.

She is also a keen sportswoman having played Brisbane Division 1 hockey for UQ and represented Australia in the Over 35 Women’s Hockey team at the Trans Tasman cup. She is currently learning to surf.
