Researcher biography
I am an MPhil candidate in the School of Communication and Arts, researching life writing and refugee testimony. I focus on the work of Behrouz Boochani, specifically as it intersects with issues of digital media, testimony, and Australian border policies. My thesis investigates the Australian reception of Boochani’s autobiographical novel, No Friend but the Mountains (2018). In doing so, I examine both the Australian intelligentsia’s response to the autobiographical novel and the value of exploring new transnational scenes of reading for this challenging text. My research interests include refugee testimony and literature, life writing, and Australian literature.
