Deconstructing the ARC Fellowships: 17 to 19 September 2019

Deconstructing the ARC Fellowships is the next edition of the successful ‘ARC Deconstructing the Proposal Sessions’ held in 2017. In this iteration the sessions are aimed at looking at key questions when considering a fellowship application with the ARC. Hour long sessions with lunch provided will be held over 3 days and will be presented by scholars who have been successful in the ARC space, mentor scholars in these schemes or have assessed application for the ARC. The series will offer sessions on identifying your readiness to apply, pulling apart the application to target your audience and how to navigate the logistics of applying in terms of support at the local level all the way to the ARC.

Session 1 – Are you ready? When to apply for an ARC Fellowship

Overview: This session is part dissecting the ARC fellowships and part understanding your career trajectory and identifying when is the right time to apply for DECRA or Future Fellowship. Plus how to discuss that within UQ in regards to seeking UQ support for the application, organisational statement and the opportunities post-fellowship.

Overview: The session is designed to provide guidance on what you should be doing after you leave the session in developing the proposal and how to save yourself time as the deadline approaches. Come and hear from three different perspectives on how to navigate the application process from start to end. Find out from previous fellowship holders on how they approached the grant writing process and readership locally, support from OSR and what happens during their review in supporting your proposal and also how an ARC CoE Panel Member guides your proposal through the ARC assessment.
