The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is ranked as one of the top research institutions among leading universities worldwide.
Based at the UQ St Lucia campus, we bring together hundreds of subject experts and over 850 higher degree students across our disciplines.

Among our academic staff (current and retired) we are proud to have many Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and Fellows of the Australian Academy of the Humanities

2023 ARWU Subject rankings

The ARWU is published by the independent higher education consultancy. The rankings consider the number of highly cited researchers and articles published in high-ranking journals, as well as alumni and staff awards.

2023 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings

  • Ranked 91 in Arts & Humanities and placed 5th in Australia.
  • Ranked 40 in Education and placed 4th in Australia.
  • Ranked 77 in Social Sciences and placed 3rd in Australia.

The Times Higher Education subject rankings are brought together by scores across five categories: citations, industry income, international outlook, research and teaching.
