The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is ranked as one of the top institutions for research among the leading universities worldwide.
Based at the UQ St Lucia campus, we bring together hundreds of subject experts and over 850 higher degree students across our disciplines.

2020 ARWU Subject rankings

The ARWU is published by the independent higher education consultancy. The rankings consider the number of highly cited researchers and articles published in high-ranking journals, as well as alumni and staff awards.

Excellence in Research (ERA) is Australia’s national research evaluation framework. It identifies excellence across Australia’s higher education institutions and compares Australia's university research effort against international benchmarks.

2021 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings

  • Ranked 87th in Arts & Humanities
  • Ranked 42nd in Education and placed 4th in Australia.
  • Ranked 62nd in Social Sciences and placed 3rd in Australia.

These subject rankings are brought together by scores across five categories: citations, industry income, international outlook, research and teaching.
