After I graduate I want to be a guidance counsellor back in Vietnam and help students to gain better insights into their future.

What are you studying?

I am studying a Master of Educational Studies majoring in Guidance and Counselling at The University of Queensland. I was also awarded a HASS Scholarship for Excellence from the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty.

Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?

Brisbane is a peaceful city. It's not too crowded like the hustle and bustle of Sydney and Melbourne which makes it very liveable The weather here is also great and I have found the people to be very helpful and enthusiastic.

Tell us about your experience at UQ?

My experience of UQ is that the environment is fresh and full of nature. The classrooms are modern and provide a great place to study. The staff and lecturers have also been very supportive during my studies.

What is special or unique about your program?

What is unique about my program is the diversity. People in my classes come from different backgrounds which means you learn alot from all the different multicultural views.

What challenges have you came across in your study? How did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge I have found in my studies is all the reading materials and assignments. I found that by having good time management I am able to get the best results for my studies.

What will you do after you graduate?

After I graduate I want to be a guidance counsellor back in Vietnam and help students to gain better insights into their future.

What advice would you give to international students who are considering studying at UQ?

For students thinking about coming to UQ I would say prepare yourself with critical thinking and self study skills as you will use these all the time when studying. Be open and respectful to differences.
