Director, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit

Cassandra is a Torres Strait Islander woman who grew up in Millmerran on the Darling Downs in Southern Queensland. She is the oldest of four and an Aunty to 8 deadly nieces and nephews. Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Administration and a Bachelor of Education (Honours).

Cassandra has worked in a range of sectors including: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs, community development and engagement, Indigenous housing, child protection, youth and education. She is committed to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people engaging in further education and has an interest in Indigenist Research approaches and methods and their application in education.

Cassandra joined the UQ team in October 2023.
