2021 Changes for the Bachelor of Communication
We have recently completed a review of the Bachelor of Communication (BCommun) and have made some changes to this program for students commencing in Semester 1, 2021.
Some of the changes were made to standardise aspects of UQ undergraduate programs, including the unit-value of majors. Other changes were made to ensure that we have a sustainable suite of program, plan and course offerings.
When viewing the 2020 Bachelor of Communication course list on the Programs and Courses website, you can change which year you are viewing using the dropdown box near the top right of the list to compare the 2021 BCommun with the pre-2021 program.
The changes that have been made to this program will affect students commencing in Semester 1, 2021.
As a continuing student, you will be able to complete your current major and program and there will be no change to your enrolment plan unless you elect to apply to change into the 2021 BCommun (program code 2507) program structure and course list.
We are here to provide you with some further detail to guide your enrolment decisions.
Please read the information below carefully and consider the option that is best for you. If you decide you would like to change to the 2021 program for Semester 1, 2021, you will need to submit a program change request in your mySI-net account by 12 February 2021 (program change requests open 4 December 2020).
2. What does this mean for continuing students?
Please be assured that if you are a continuing student enrolled in the pre-2021 BCommun program (program code 2236), you will be able to complete with the program structure and rules that were in place when you commenced.
If you wish to complete your pre-2021 major and program requirements, no further action is required.
However, if you are thinking of changing to the 2021 BCommun (program code 2507) or to an associated 2021 BCommun dual program please read sections 3, 4 and 5 carefully.
