Faculty research and researchers have received over $1million in the recent ARC funding announcment.
Dr Emma Hutchison received a Discovery Early Career Research Award for her project on 'Emotions and the future of international humanitarianism'.
Six projects received Discovery Project Funding:
- Dr Dennis Collins (School of Music) and Dr Jason Stoessel 'The art and science of canon in the music of early 17th-century Rome'.
- Professor Brian Head (School of Political Science and International Studies) Dr Linda Colley 'Hierarchy to high-performance? Evaluating 30yrs of Senior Executive Service'.
- Dr Alastair Stark (School of Political Science and International Studies) Professor Andrew Hindmoor 'Do Public Inquiries Matter? Tracking Inquiry Implementation in Australia'.
- Professor Greg Marston (School of Social Science) Associate Professor Philip Mendes; Dr Shelley Bielefeld; Associate Professor Louse Humpage 'Conditional welfare: A comparative case study of income management policies'.
- Dr Alison Crowther & Associate Professor Andrew Fairbairn (School of Social Science) Professor Douglas Baird 'Re-evaluating forager-farmer plant use in Anatolia’s neolithic transition'.
- Dr Patrick Jory (School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry) 'Thailand's social and political transformation, 1880-1980'.
A further five HASS researchers were successful as part of non-UQ led project: Associate Professor Ilana Mushin, Associate Professor Roderick Gardner (School of Languages and Cultures); Professor Peter Renshaw, Professor Annemaree Carroll (School of Education); Emeritus Professor Peter Spearitt (School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry).
The Institute of Social Science Research was recognised under the ARC Linkage Learned Academices Special Projects for 'The Use of Big Data for Social Policy: Benefits and risks', led by the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
