UQP author Carly-Jay Metcalfe reflects on her new book, Breath.
Carly-Jay is a M.Phil. Candidate in Creative Writing at UQ and winner of the 2022 UQP Writing Mentorship, a partnership with UQ's creative writing program.
She was born with cystic fibrosis, survived a double-lung transplant at the age of 21 and faced a rare cancer at the age of 30. She is a passionate advocate for organ donation and honest conversations about death and dying.
In her upcoming memoir, she writes with humour and frankness about survivor’s guilt; illness and death; and the importance of laughter in dark times.
