Diploma of Arts

This is a graduate-entry program for anyone who wants to study an undergraduate-level major, minor/s or a selection of Program Electives from our DipArts degree. Majors and minors are available in 49 different disciplines.

Upon completion and subject to satisfactory performance and entry requirements, this program may enable students eligibility for entry into Honours, to postgraduate coursework and, via Honours, entry to research postgraduate study.

2. First year plans

In order to complete the Diploma in Arts you must successfully complete 8 courses, which equates to 16 units. The standard full-time workload at UQ is 16 units (8 courses) per year however, due to course offerings and the nature of the structure of the Diploma, it is highly unlikely that it could be completed in one year full-time. It is likely that you will need to complete your diploma part-time over a longer duration.

To complete the Diploma you will need to complete one of the following:

  • one major (16 units), or
  • two minors (8 units each), or
  • one minor (8 units) and 8 units of Program Electives, or
  • 16 units of Program Electives.

**Please note that Option 1 would not be possible with most language majors as they are usually completed over three years, however, students should consult with the School of Languages and Cultures for further advice.
