New Centre for Policy Futures
The Faculty’s new Centre for Policy Futures aims to strengthen the connection between UQ’s academic research and the practice of policy. Led by Professor Karen Hussey, the Centre commenced in August 2017 and has since developed a five-year plan of action, established a significant funding agreement with CSIRO and formed a number of research partnerships across UQ and with state and federal government departments.
The Centre specialises in three policy areas: Science, Technology and Society; Trade, Foreign and Security Policy; and, Sustainable Development Goals and Capacity Building. These areas are important issues of our time and ones where the Faculty, and UQ more broadly, can make a significant contribution.
Opportunities to work with the Centre abound, from secondments for early-career researchers, to co-hosting policy roundtables, and undertaking joint research projects. The Centre will also work with policy-engaged scholars from the Faculty to deliver training programs for early-career researchers. The Visiting Fellows program is currently open for applications (closing 31 March).
