What was the best thing about studying at UQ?
The best thing about studying at UQ was the broad range of experiences available at my finger tips – from student clubs, research projects, innovation programs to exchanges overseas, there’s so much available to explore.
What was the best thing about your program at UQ?
The best thing about studying a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Social Science was the variety of subjects I could try. I was able to study things that interested me such as new languages, history and politics. I especially enjoyed the two semesters where I worked on a research project with industry. I could see how my work could have a real impact in the field.
How did your study help you secure your current role, and what do you love about your current role?
My study taught me the skills to think strategically and critically, as well as synthesise and analyse a broad range of topics. These skills have been invaluable to my current role working in public policy as I regularly pick up a broad range of problems and develop solutions.
What advice would you give to students in the same discipline you studied?
Don’t rush through it, soak as much as it up as you can and give everything a go. University isn’t just about what you learn, but the networks and experiences you gain along the way doing things that you enjoy.
