Job title: Marketing and Engagment Officer (Recruitment), Faculty Marketing Team

What is the best thing about your job?

The people that I work with. My team are great and make it a pleasure to come to work every day. I also get to meet so many wonderful staff and students and hear their stories which I love.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

An entrepreneur – I loved the idea of creating things and having my own business. As I got older and went on to University I then decided I wanted to be an interpreter / translator and I’d travel the world doing this. People change and dreams change and I’m very happy now doing what I do.

Who has had the biggest influence on you?

Probably my parents. They gave me the space to try new things (even if they didn’t agree) but are always at an arm’s length if needed. That’s one thing I’d like to be able to do for my children, guide and support them, but give them the space to make decisions for themselves.

Which book changed your life?

I love to read, and a variety of things. I wouldn’t say one has changed my life, but a couple that have left a mark after I put them down are “Infidel: My Life” – I had such empathy for her and what she has achieved is quite remarkable. “Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking” is another that springs to mind as it was really something that I could relate to, and at the time when I read it was something that really empowered me.

What is your favourite piece of music / song?

It really depends what mood I am in – my playlist is quite varied. According to my phone, number one in my top 25 most played songs at the moment is Say by John Mayer.

What is top of your bucket list?

To travel more – I always have itchy feet and love exploring the world.
