Not only the resourceful lectures but also the intensive debates and discussions applying up-to-date real life scenario inspire and delight me from class to class.

How did you find the teaching staff?

UQ’s teaching staff is incredibly helpful.

One of my course assessments was to create a PR plan. Being new to the country, I wasn’t sure what to do. One of my lecturers, Dr John Harrison, chatted with me for an hour about where I wanted to work in the future. With his guidance, I ended up creating a PR plan for the Master Livestock Australia – something that is relevant to China and Australia.

What was the best thing about your program?

The PR campaign course was really useful. I loved digital communications, Jane and John and the choice of electives. One of the underlying themes of the program is to show you that there’s different forms of communication through program and your electives. There was a Performance PR course that really suited my background in drama. What I learned helped me enter a competition called ‘When Panda meets Koala’, from the People’s Daily publication. I have been one of 20 finalists!

Not only the resourceful lectures but also the intensive debates and discussions applying up-to-date real life scenario inspire and delight me from class to class. It’s so valuable to hear different ideas that enables me to have a broader horizon. I was also surprised that my major offers a course called “Intercultural Communication”, which gathered people from various cultures. Communicating with smart people from so diversified cultures is amazing.

Why did you choose to study in Australia?

I was drawn to study in Australia because I wanted to have the working lifestyle in Australia. As an international student, I felt thrilled to have the privilege to wander in UQ campus before applying and fell in love with the place at first sight. Summer brought beautiful jacarandas to the campus; breeze sent the aroma of academy to my heart.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

UQ has its own unique beauty and elegance alongside its rich history—this is how an ideal university should be in my heart. As a girl with passion for humanities, appealing environment plays equal importance to me as academic excellence.

I hope to study in a university that can inspire me—UQ does; I hope to live somewhere embraces diversity—UQ does; I hope to stay where people fulfil their dreams—UQ does. So I’m here. What about you?
