Combing archives for information on the use of restraints on Indigenous Australians led PhD Candidate in the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry Max Brierty to reflect on his family’s experiences.
A descendent of Kullilli People, Mr Brierty said researching the violence of Australia’s colonisation and occupation was confronting and challenging.
His thesis explored why chains and other forms of restraint have continued to be used on Indigenous people.
