Unlock the melodies of your mind with Caleb Colledge, a first year lecturer in MUSC1010, Caleb brings his musical expertise and passion for creation to the classroom. He's currently jamming to the sounds of Fred Again inspiring our students to explore their own unique soundscapes.
What can students expect to learn? MUSC1010 gives students an introduction to using Ableton to produce music and podcasts. We teach students how to record audio, sequence MIDI, chop samples, make drum beats and chord sequences culminating in creating a track or podcast as the final assessment task.
Why do you like teaching this discipline? Helping students unlock their creative potential is so exciting as a fellow creative.
I'm a musician and producer myself, so I love sharing my passion of creating and producing music with UQ students.
What is your top piece of advice to first year students doing this course? We have a whole scope of students enrolled in this course ranging from students who are just beginning their musical journey to fully fledged producers wanting to learn more about Ableton. The best thing about this is everyone is exploring their own personal creative journey within this course, making music is like a diary entry, its personal to you and everyone wins.
Who are your top three favourite people in the Arts (this could be a writer, musician, poet, actor etc)? I find it so hard to narrow down my favourite artists, there are so many! So here are three artists I'm listening to loads right now. Fred Again.., Gotts Street Park and Rick Rubin's Podcast "Tetragrammaton"
