The Language Data Commons of Australia (LDaCA) and the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invite you to the live streaming of Bringing Data to Life: Co-Designing a Language Data Commons.
Institutions in the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) hold large quantities of material that are important for research in the various disciplines of the humanities. Improving access to such materials can have benefits for both institutions and researchers.
To scale up such collaboration beyond local efforts, working at the level of the research infrastructure is an effective strategy.
Bringing Data to Life aims to initiate engagement on one kind of data - language data - between researchers, universities, and the GLAM sector.
The Language Data Commons of Australia (LDaCA) is an infrastructure that is still in its development phase. This provides the opportunity to begin collaboration as a process of co-design involving GLAM bodies, which hold language data, especially Indigenous language data, and LDaCA with its expertise in language data and technologies.
