Oxford Scholarship named in honour of IASH Director and former Oxford Professor, Peter Harrison

1 Mar 2017

The ‘Peter Harrison Studentship’ will support students applying to Oxford’s Master of Studies (MSt) programme in Science and Religion, offered by the Faculty of Theology and Religion.  The scholarship is sponsored by the US-based Issachar Fund.

Peter Harrison, the former Idreos Professor of Science and Religion at Oxford, said that he was delighted that students in Oxford’s Science and Religion programme would be supported in this way. ‘One of the perennial difficulties of postgraduate education at Oxford is finding sufficient funding to support the number of excellent candidates who apply to study there. This scholarship will go some way towards ameliorating that problem.’

The announcement of the studentship was made last week, when Professor Harrison delivered a public lecture at Oxford’s Mathematical Institute. The first recipient of the scholarship has been named as William Richardson, who will take up the studentship at Oxford’s Harris Manchester college.
