Camps, Cottages, and Homes

26 September 2022
Adjunct Associate Professor Alexander Ackfun, Associate Professor Sandra Phillips and Professor Heather Zwicker welcomed guests to the exhibition.

A brief history of Indigenous housing is currently being showcased at The University of Queensland’s Anthropology Museum.

Camps, Cottages, and Homes is the first exhibition of its kind, sharing the untold histories of Indigenous people and places through an architectural lens.

A collaboration between the Museum and UQ’s School of Architecture, this display draws on 50 years of housing research and longstanding connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The camps, cottages, and homes featured in the exhibition explore the multitude of ways that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Queensland have been housed across the twentieth century.

Experience this free UQ exhibition until October 28.
