Acting Deputy Dean at the UQ Graduate School Professor Kim Wilkins is among 94 new members appointed to the Australian Research Council (ARC) 2023 College of Experts panel.
Recognised for her extensive authorship and research under the School of Communication and Arts, Professor Wilkins will be involved in assessing research proposals for funding under the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP).
She is looking forward to hearing about all the amazing humanities and creative arts research projects out there.
"I'm honoured to be selected as somebody who can make a meaningful contribution to research in Australia," Professor Wilkins said.
"I’m also curious to see behind the workings of the ARC college, so I can bring a broader perspective back into the Faculty to help develop our own researchers.”
ARC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Judi Zielke PSM said the new members would ensure the continuing effectiveness of the ARC College of Experts.
“I welcome the new members to the ARC College of Experts, who with existing members ensure diversity across disciplines, gender balance, and representation from small and large Australian universities,” Ms Zielke said.
“I am pleased that the College continues to have such strong representation, from a very competitive field of applicants.”
There are now 23 UQ experts among the 269 College panel members, who help identify research excellence, moderate external assessments of grant proposals, and recommend projects to be funded.
The announcement also confirms the reappointment of fellow Faculty experts Associate Professor Martin Crotty, Professor Felicity Meakins, and Professor Anna Johnston.
