The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences had much to celebrate at UQ’s Research and Innovation Week, showcasing the fantastic depth, creativity, and impact of the work we do.

Congratulations to all the talented nominees and their teams recognised at the UQ Research and Innovation Awards for Excellence ceremony on 11 September 2025 , and of course the HASS winners from across the week!

We were thrilled to celebrate research impact and recognise UQ's remarkable researchers and research training leaders.

Awards for Excellence in Graduate Research Programs and Support

Congratulations also to Associate Professor Sarah Percy and Associate Professor Nicole George from the School of Political Science and International Studies who received Commendations in the Awards for Excellence in Graduate Research Programs and Support.

UQ 3MT Winner

A big shout out to 2025 UQ 3MT winner Fran Spinelli from the School of Languages and Cultures who explored the role of Gen AI in supporting the academic English reading, writing, listening and speaking of international students.

The University of Queensland's Research and Innovation Awards for Excellence recognise outstanding research achievements across the University and this past week has showcased the importance of the humanities, arts and social sciences in our community and beyond.
