The Cohort Connections Fund aims to support staff and student clubs and societies to provide cohort-building activities that enhance HASS coursework students’ sense of community and/or employability capabilities.
Please read the Cohort Connections Guidelines below prior to your application submission.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year until funding runs out.
Funding of up to $300 per event is available, noting that catering is generally limited to $10 per head. Student Futures team retains the final authority to adjust the funding amount.
We can provide support with:
- Catering
- Venue hire/room booking
- Equipment hire
- Printing and UQ merchandise
- Registration
- On-the-day support (set up, registration and pack down)
- Event hospitality forms
- Promotion on HASS social media channel
Please note, we cannot provide funding for scholarships or renumeration for students, staff or guest speakers.
In return, you are responsible for:
- Event promotion.
- Liaise with guest speakers and /or industry partners.
- Lead and attend event.
- Submit a post-event outcome report.
The following event options have been extremly popular with staff and students alike. Alternatively, if you have a specific event in mind, we can work together to design and deliver a tailored cohort-building event, please contact Manny at studentfutures@hass.uq.edu.au for more information.
- Masterclass / Study skill workshop: work together with industry professionals to equip students with job-ready skills, followed by networking session.
- Suitable for up to 150 people
- On-Campus coffee catch-up: cohort catchup/networking between students, staff and industry partners.
- Suitable for up to 20 people
- Recommended venue: On A Roll, Darwin's
- On-campus luncheon cohort building: casual and informal cohort gathering with students, staff and industry partners.
- Suitable for up to 20 people
- Recommended venue: Red Room, Pizza Cafe
- On-campus outdoor cohort building: casual and informal cohort gathering with students, staff and industry partners
- Outdoor BBQ event: minimum 100 people
- Outdoor picnic: suitable for up to 20 people
In order to be eligible for funding and support, your event or activity must meet the following criteria:
- The primary target audience is a group of coursework students studying in a HASS program.
- The aim is to enhance students' sense of community and/or employability capabilities.
- It is organised collaboratively with other staff, alumni, industry partners and/or clubs and societies.
- It is extracurricular event, not associated with learning activities or assessment within courses.
- You anticipate at least 20 attendees.
- No alcohol will be served.
- You must be a UQ staff member or a Student Club & Society listed on UQU website.
