What are you studying?

I am studying a Master of Mass Communication majoring in Strategic Communication at The University of Queensland (UQ). I was also awarded a HASS Scholarship for Excellence from the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at UQ.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

When researching about UQ, one of the top 50 universities in the world, I was impressed by the way the Master of Communication program addresses both theoretical and applied communications. The Master program offers many insights and perspectives that I am looking for, including media and communications studies along with a supportive environment to advance my understanding. I was excited to refine my skills in the specialisation of intercultural and digital communication at UQ.

What is the best thing about studying at UQ?

Studying at UQ delights me in many ways. I have a chance to live and explore a beautiful school life at one of the best 50 universities in the world. Firstly, all students are provided with the latest technology and useful facilities. The self-study places are amazingly enjoyable. Therefore, students can do their work anytime at their convenience.  Secondly, UQ has one of the best libraries in the world where I have access to unlimited books and research works. However, the best thing about studying at UQ is the way the professors work with you. They are not only incredible experts in their field but also the best teachers to learn from. They provide an insightful understanding of your discipline and help you expand your critical thinking skills.

What is special or unique about your program?

The Master of Communication at UQ is essential for me to know how to efficiently and effectively communicate and stay connected with our audiences, with the message to our target audiences being portrayed and evaluated more precisely. Furthermore, I get updated with the latest curriculum, communication techniques and strategies, as well as be better equipped with the skills and confidence to tackle the ever-changing demands of the field.

Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?
I am eager to pursue my higher education in Australia because I believe that Australia is one of the best places that offer research and study experiences. Brisbane in particular has one of the best educational systems in the world that warmly welcomes international students from all over the world. The multi-cultural environment, provides foreigner students from different backgrounds a unique and precious chance to explore local culture and share their own culture with others.

What will you do after you graduate?

Upon the completion of my Master’s degree, I want to contribute to the advancements in the communication industry in Vietnam. I want to do this by sharing with students and interns my knowledge and skills on critical topics, including crisis communication, social media engagement, focus group planning and implementation, survey design and survey analysis, public relations theory, professional writing, and communication ethics.  I firmly believe that I could make contributions to a more transparent and accountable communication industry for the benefit of the Vietnamese community.
