We have recently completed a review of the Bachelor of International Studies (BIntSt) and some changes have been made to this program for students commencing in Semester 1, 2021. 

As a continuing student, you will note changes to the course lists for some BIntSt majors, but please be assured that you will be able to complete your current majors and you will not be affected by any substantive change to the structure of the program as a whole.

We are here to provide you with some further detail that will be helpful to you in planning your enrolment.

1. What is changing in 2021 for the Bachelor of International Studies?

In the 2021 program:

  • There are some minor changes to terminology of sections but the structure of the program remains the same
  • French plans have been reconfigured separately as French and French Advanced
  • Japanese plans have been reconfigured separately as Japanese and Japanese Advanced
  • Streams have been removed from all language plans
  • The course list terminology of gateway, cornerstone and capstone has been replaced by a new look course list with less jargon
  • There are some changes to the course lists for majors including course discontinuations and introductions
  • There are increased Level 3 course requirements in majors
  • There is a new requirement for 8 units of courses at Level 3 study (built into the structure of the program) and a relaxed requirement permitting up to 24 units of study of courses at Level 1
