In response to extensive student and industry feedback a new 3-year Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ) program will be offered for students commencing in Semester 1, 2023.

As a continuing Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Honours) (BCCJ(Hons)) student please be assured that you will be able to complete your program requirements and we are here to assist you with planning your enrolment.

2. What does this mean for continuing 4-year BCCJ(Hons) students?

As a continuing 4-year BCCJ(Hons) student, we strongly encourage you to remain in your current program and complete your program requirements.

The benefits of remaining in your current 4-year BCCJ(Hons) program include:

      1. minimal disruption to your studies. There are some minor changes to your existing program, which are outline in the completion planner, but otherwise you can progress as planned and
      2. in Year 4 you will complete an embedded research and industry training that gives you a competitive edge in the employment market.

Students commencing their Honours year in 2023 should refer to these revised program requirements and completion planner to assist with your enrolment selection.

    In 2023, the Year 4 Honours advanced coursework experience will comprise of four 2-unit courses team-taught by academics from the School of Communications and Arts and the School of Social Science. The CRIM4103 Criminology and Criminal Justice Research Thesis course will be supervised by academics from the Criminology team.

    In 2024, the Year 4 Honours advanced coursework experience will comprise of three 2-unit courses team-taught by academics from the School of Communications and Arts and the School of Social Science. The SOSC6996 Honours Research Thesis course will be supervised by academics from the Criminology team.
