2023 Changes for Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Honours)
In response to extensive student and industry feedback a new 3-year Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ) program will be offered for students commencing in Semester 1, 2023.
As a continuing Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Honours) (BCCJ(Hons)) student please be assured that you will be able to complete your program requirements and we are here to assist you with planning your enrolment.
3. I am thinking of changing from the BCCJ(Hons) to the new BCCJ or the BCCJ/BA. What should I consider?
If you are thinking of applying to change from your 4-year BCCJ(Hons) program to the new 3-year BCCJ program or the new 4-year BCCJ/BA dual program, you should first consider the following:
- How many units of study you have already completed. We will try to maximise transfer of credit if you change to a 2023 program however it might not be possible to credit all courses you have completed.
- Possible delays in the completion of your program requirements as two new compulsory BCCJ Core Courses will be offered from 2024 onwards - CRIM3201 (Semester 1) and CRIM3202 (Semester 2).
- Your fee rate may change to reflect the fees relevant to the year of commencement in the new program. Changing to a new program will have fee implications for students who commenced before 2021 as the Federal Government introduced significant changes to the calculation of student fees. Pre-2021 students who change to a new program will be subject to the new fee structure. Please view the unit of study fees schedule for further details. This will apply to both programs should you switch to the dual program.
If you wish to change to either of the new programs, and have any questions in regards to these considerations, please contact the Student Administration team in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) for further advice.
