We have recently completed a review of the Diploma in Arts (DipArts) and have made some changes to this program for students commencing in Semester 1, 2021.

Some of the changes were made to standardise aspects of UQ programs. Other changes were made to ensure that we have a sustainable suite of program, plan and course offerings. When viewing the course list on the Programs and Courses website, you can change which year you are viewing using the dropdown box near the top right of the list to compare the 2021 DipArts with the pre-2021 program.

As a continuing student, your choice of plans (Minors, Majors) will determine to what extent you are affected by these changes but please be assured that you will be able to complete the plan or combination of plans you have commenced.

We are here to help you plan your enrolment for 2021.

2. What does this mean for me as a continuing student?

Students commencing the DipArts in 2021 will be required to follow the new program structure, rules and course list.

Students continuing in the DipArts will be able to complete their program as planned with a 16-unit Major OR two 8-unit Minors, even if a plan is no longer available to commencing students. There will be changes to the course offerings available in some plans, but alternatives for completion of the plan will be provided.

If preferred, continuing students will also be able to elect one of the new structural options for completion of the DipArts, i.e. an 8-unit Minor and 8 units of other courses from the DipArts course list OR 16 units from the DipArts course list, including at least 6 units of courses at Level 2 or higher.
